Lifestory Research's America's Most Trusted® study was created more than a decade ago to understand better how trust influences customer decisions. Social and opinion science research practices that adhere to the highest quality standards are used in this research to provide consumer-driven data insights.
Every year, we conduct more than 50 studies in which we ask thousands of people about their perceptions and experiences with various brands and compile insights on which brands consumers trust the most. Companies and brands differentiate themselves from their competitors and peers by establishing customer trust. Trust increases revenues, lowers costs, and improves customer satisfaction.
The rankings are based on the Net Trust Index Quotient Score as defined by three levels of consumer trust: Trust Advocates, Trust Neutral, and Trust Antagonists. Trust Advocates show significant trust in a brand, but Trust Antagonists express distrust. The brand with the highest Net Trust Index Quotient Score in the product research study has the highest consumer trust.

The Lifestory Research 2023 America’s Most Trusted® Moving Company Study found Mayflower as the most trusted brand among people planning the use of a moving company. With a Net Trust Quotient Score of 96.8, Mayflower had the highest trust rating among the most popular moving companies.
The most trusted moving company brands, in order, were Mayflower, United Van Lines, North American Van Lines, Allied Van Lines, Wheaton Van Lines, Graebel Van Lines, Atlas Van Lines, and Bekins Van Lines. Mayflower received the best reviews and trust ratings among the most popular moving company brands as judged by consumers.
The Lifestory Research 2023 America’s Most Trusted® Moving Company ranking is based on 52,843 opinions of people surveyed between January and December in the United States. Brands included in the final ranking were nationally recognized by people actively considering using a moving company. Trust is a direct measure of how people rank the quality of a moving company, review and evaluate the quality of a moving company in customer satisfaction ratings.
If a moving company brand had a low brand awareness and did not have enough brand judgments, these brands were excluded from the rankings. To be considered, brands needed to receive enough survey responses to achieve a 95% confidence level with no more than a 3% margin of error. The America’s Most Trusted® study also identified the most trusted moving companies within the largest metropolitan cities in the United States. People considering a move within the largest cities in the country were asked which moving companies they trust the most.
Mayflower had the highest trust rating nationally and received the top rating in more cities than any other moving company. Among people living in major metropolitan cities, Mayflower generated the top rank (ranked #1) in Austin, Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Orlando, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego, Savannah, and Seattle.
United Van Lines ranked top in trust among major cities in Atlanta, Boise, Miami, Phoenix, and Tucson.
North American Van Lines is the most trusted moving company in Minneapolis St Paul, Philadelphia, and Tampa.
Allied Van Lines is the most trusted company in Cleveland.
Wheaton Van Lines captured the #1 ranking of trust in Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Louisville, New York City, Newark, and Salt Lake.
Graebel Van Lines is the most trusted moving company in Albuquerque, Columbus, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, Southwest Florida (Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota), and Washington DC.
Bekins Van Lines is the most trusted moving company in Sacramento.
