Our research finds that the detergent brand plays a vital role in consumers' purchase decisions at the store. So, what are the brands that consumers trust the most?

The 2024 America’s Most Trusted Study

For over a decade, the America's Most Trusted® study has provided invaluable insights to brands regarding the significance of trust to consumers. A wise brand comprehends the direct nexus between consumer trust and business performance. This study stands as the ultimate gauge of brand trust, eagerly anticipated each year by consumers and brand managers alike, with updated results unveiled in January.

Customers' trust in the brand measures its ability to deliver its promises. The development of brand trust with customers is crucial for securing their loyalty. When consumers trust a brand, they are more likely to purchase and recommend it. Brand trust also aids in building customer loyalty, as customers stick with the brands they trust.

Every year, Lifestory Research shares the results of the America's Most Trusted® study. The survey we conduct every year involves surveying thousands of people about their perceptions of and experiences with different brands. While shopping for specific products, people are surveyed to find out how much they trust specific brands. Our Net Trust Quotient Score is validated for this study.

In addition to assessing a brand's trustworthiness within a particular product category, the Net Trust Quotient Score (NTQS) also helps determine if a product meets customer expectations compared with competitors. This trust metric seeks to provide consumer-driven data insights using social and opinion science research practices that use the highest quality consumer research standards.

What are the top laundry detergent brands people trust the most?

The Lifestory Research ratings, reviews, and awards are based on detailed survey feedback based on the opinions and trust ratings of those surveyed in the laundry detergent study. We do not use third-party reviews and ratings, editorial committees, or industry professionals in determining the most trusted laundry detergent brands. We rely on real people's opinions and rigorous social scientific survey standards to obtain laundry detergent ratings, including sample sizes designed to reflect the target audience's opinions. All laundry detergent research findings are exclusively founded on the opinions of people who independently completed the surveys in America's Most Trusted Research program.

2024 America’s Most Trusted Laundry Detergent Brand

The Lifestory Research 2024 America’s Most Trusted® Laundry Detergent Brand Study found Tide to be the most trusted brand among people considering the purchase of laundry detergent. With a Net Trust Quotient Score of 120.9, Tide had the highest trust rating among the most popular laundry detergent brands.

The Lifestory Research 2024 America’s Most Trusted® Laundry Detergent Brand ranking is based on 7,529 opinions of people surveyed in the United States over the last 12 months. Tide generated the top reviews and trust ratings among the most popular laundry detergent brands as judged by consumers. The most trusted brands were Tide, OxiClean, Gain, Arm & Hammer, Seventh Generation, Kirkland Signature, All, Persil, Purex, Cheer, ERA, and Amazon Basics.

To be included in the final ranking, laundry detergent brands must have a certain level of brand awareness. Brands with low brand awareness were excluded from the rankings based on the study's criteria. Brands must have received enough survey responses to achieve a 95% confidence level with no more than a 3% margin of error to be included in the final ranking of the laundry detergent brand study. This confidence level is necessary to ensure that the survey results accurately reflect the opinions of the surveyed population. The sample size must also be large enough to ensure the validity of the survey results. Therefore, the study excluded laundry detergent brands that did not meet this condition.
