Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is effective as of November 10, 2020.

This policy describes how Lifestory Corporation (“Lifestory Research” or “Lifestory”) collects, uses, and shares information that can be used to identify you and that you provide to Lifestory or which is derived from the Personal Data as outlined below. If you have any questions or concerns about our policy, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us. If there are any terms in this privacy policy that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of our Sites and our services.

This privacy policy applies to all information collected through our website (lifestoryresearch.com), and/or any related services, sales, marketing or events (we refer to them collectively in this privacy policy as the “Services“). Please read this privacy policy carefully as it will help you make informed decisions about sharing your personal information with us.

In the ordinary course of business, Lifestory collects “Personal Data” (e.g., name, address, phone number, email address, and your employer) and payment details for customers.  Examples of the ways we collect information include your use of our websites, through forms of communication (e.g., phone calls, emails, website submissions), or in your participation in Lifestory market research surveys

What types of information do we collect?

Lifestory collects a variety of information through your interaction with and use of Lifestory websites. Personal Data we collect can include information that could reasonably be linked to you directly or indirectly.  Personal Data we may collect includes contact information (name, email, phone number), demographic information (age, income, location of home), content you upload when taking a Lifestory survey (photos, product reviews, images), or job application information (resume, references).

Lifestory automatically collects information when using our website.  We collect navigation information (page visits, day and time, referring pages), device information (device type, operating system, browser), and location information (determined from IP address).

How do we use your information?

We collect and use information for business and commercial purposes in accordance with the practices described in this privacy policy. Our business purposes for collecting and using information include:

  • Lifestory requires your personal data to provide you with access to Lifestory services, to comply with contractual and statutory obligations, including checks required by applicable export laws and to stay in touch with you.

  • Lifestory uses your information as part of our market research services including, surveys, and linking or combining your information with other information we get from other sources, sweepstakes, contests or other promotions.

  • Lifestory uses your personal data in marketing related activities including direct marketing for products and services, advertisements, offers, promotions, rewards, events, and services.

How do we share information?

We share information in accordance with the practices described in this privacy policy. We share information about you with the following categories of entities:

  • With companies that provide services to us.  Examples include payment processing data, data analysis, email delivery, web hosting services, customer and marketing services. We may allow selected third parties to use tracking technology on the Services, which will enable them to collect data about how you interact with the Services over time. This information may be used to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content and better understand online activity.

  • With our clients in connection to research work we are performing on their behalf. For example, to conduct market research services, we share your information with our clients and respond to your questions and comments.

  • For legal purposes, as reasonably necessary to comply with law or a legal process (including a court or government order or subpoena), to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, to enforce this privacy policy, and to protect the rights, property or safety of Lifestory, our users, and/or the public.

  • Facilitating your requests to share information at your direction, such as when you request information related to a published study.

What tracking technologies do we use?

We use tracking technologies to collect the information identified above under the “Information we collect automatically” section (“Tracking Technologies”), including a standard feature of browser software, called a “cookie,” to assign each user a unique, random number that resides on a user’s computer. The cookie does not personally identify the user; it merely identifies the computer with which the user accesses our website. Unless a user voluntarily identifies himself or herself (through subscription, for example), Lifestory will not be able to identify the identity of the user, even if a cookie is assigned to a user’s computer. The personal information a cookie can contain is information supplied by a user. Cookies prevent you from having to re-enter your preferences on certain areas of our website where you have previously entered preference information. Of course, you are free to set your web browser to not accept cookies; however, doing so may render your computer unable to take advantage of the personalized features enjoyed by other users of our website.

Lifestory may also use web beacons (also known as “single-pixel GIFs”) to access cookies and to count users who visit our website or open HTML-formatted email messages, as well as track device identification statistics and other non-identifying information for the purpose of analytics, push notifications, and error reporting. These analytics may be provided to third party vendors.

Our Service uses Tracking Technologies from analytics providers, such as Google Analytics, to analyze your use of the Service.

Google Analytics is a service from Google using cookies that are saved on your computer. The information generated by the cookie is transferred to and stored on a Google server (generally) located in the USA. Google uses this information on our behalf in order to analyze the use of our websites. The IP address transferred from your browser through Google Analytics is not merged with other data by Google for profiling purposes. We use Google Analytics to help improve our website and to help understand how visitors interact with our website so that the site can be improved. For your convenience a link to Google’s security and privacy policies is provided. You can choose not to have your data used by Google Analytics by downloading their opt-out browser add-on. Further information can be found in the Google Analytics Terms of Service.

In addition, some of these entities may be members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”). To learn more about the NAI and your opt-out options for their members, please visit networkadvertising.org/choices. To learn more about your EU Online Choices, please visit youronlinechoices.eu. Opting-out only means that the selected members should no longer deliver certain Interest-based Advertising to you, but does not mean you will no longer receive any targeted content and/or ads (e.g., from other ad networks).

Be sure to (a) provide your email address along with the name of the newsletter or subscription from which you would like to unsubscribe and (b) include “Opt Out” or “Change Preferences” in the subject line. Please note that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting the change or deletion.

You may lodge a complaint with a data protection authority for your country or region or where an alleged infringement of applicable data protection law occurs. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you lodge a formal complaint so please contact us in the first instance.

You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails or surveys from us at any time by following the instructions as provided in emails or surveys, clicking on the unsubscribe link, or emailing us at the email address set forth in the “Contact Us” section with the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject field of the email.
